My post for next week (Wednesday, March 5, 2025) looks at the “Gulf of” naming war between Trump and the Associated Press (AP), Trump’s press bans, and what it means for the public policy process.

Surprisingly, I’ve heard and read several senior scholars misinterpret Kingdon’s views on the role of the media. I’ll try to set the record straight, and explain the source of the confusion.

It’s also important to recognize that “media” has changed a LOT since John W. Kingdon wrote the first edition of his now classic book in the mid-1980s. I’ll consider this as well, but I may pose more questions than answers. Let’s see!
